How to drop your dog off for their holidayPlease make your check in and out appointment in advance, appointments are available every half hour between 10-11.30am and 4.30-6pm. We have fixed opening times as part of our noise control policy and to allow us to walk and work with the dogs in our care uninterrupted, as dogs here only bark normally when someone comes to the property other times they are settled. During this opening time dogs are normally in their rooms to limit barking and stress when they hear someone new visiting or arriving. If you are unable to come at these times the earliest is 9.30am and the latest is 6.00pm otherwise you can collect at the next opening hour available either in the afternoon or the next day. First of all, there are the practical essentials to pack for your dogs stay
Then there are a few things that will help your dog when you leave them Please don’t feed your dogs any special meals before you bring them as a special treat as this may upset their tummy and that will upset them 🙁 If you are dropping of in the morning please make sure your dog has had its breakfast similarly if you are dropping off at the afternoon drop off please make sure they have had the evening meal. When dogs arrive they maybe too busy settling in and meeting new dogs to eat their food it is better for them to arrive with a full tummy as this is comforting for them. Unless of course you have a dog that suffers from car sickness. If your dog does suffer from this please inform us so that we do not feed them before you collect them so they are not sick in your car. How to help your dog physiologically When you drop your dog off it’s is a good idea not to act worried or sad about leaving them, it’s very similar to leaving a child if you act concerned or upset your dog will notice this and worry too. If you feel that you will not be able to leave them without getting upset or feeling negative it might be better for your dog’s sake to ask another family member or friend to drop them off as your dog will be really worried about you if they see you upset and it will cause them to worry about you. You can pack things that will help your dog feel at home like their bed and toys and a worn jumper of yours if you think that will help them I know its hard but try not to make goodbyes too long as this can confuse and upset your dog, if they have never been to boarding before we try to make sure one of our girls are there to help settle them in so they can adjust and get to know their surroundings. While your dog is with us, we will ensure they have lots of fun, be happy and have the best care possible. I could not do this job if this was not the case, it’s all for the love of the dogs |
